Causes and troubleshooting methods of bulldozer engine power shortage
1. Reason investigation
Diesel engine water temperature, engine oil temperature, intake air temperature and pressure (including sensor failure) are abnormal. After the metering unit, rail pressure sensor, fuel pipeline, and fuel injector fail, the diesel engine electronic control unit will detect the failure and will not stop immediately. Instead, the power of the diesel engine will be limited so that the speed of the diesel engine can only be increased to 1500r/min. When using a bulldozer, it will feel insufficient power. When the power is insufficient, first check whether there is a fault code displayed on the instrument, and then find the fault location according to the fault code to eliminate the fault.
There is no fault code display on the instrument, mostly due to the failure of the mechanical part. For example: A bulldozer has been replacing the fuel and oil filter elements every 250 hours according to the diesel engine maintenance regulations, and regularly cleans the air filter. After the second 250h maintenance, there was insufficient power and no fault codes. Therefore, the failure of the electronic control system is ruled out, and it is judged as a mechanical failure. The inspection found that the joint between the exhaust manifold of the third cylinder of the diesel engine and the cylinder head has oil stains.
2. Exclusion method
Disassembled the exhaust manifold and found oil in the exhaust passage. Remove the fuel injector and test it with special equipment. After testing, it is found that the needle valve of the fuel injector is stuck and unable to work. From this analysis, the oil in the exhaust passage is caused by the volatilization of the engine oil, condensation and leakage here because the fuel injector of the cylinder does not work.
After installing and overhauling the fuel injector, start the diesel engine, the diesel engine starts normally, the smoke color is normal, there is no black smoke when working under heavy load, the performance of the whole machine is restored, and the fault of insufficient power is eliminated.
